For hundreds of years,

indigenous people have prepared food and smoke-dried meat and fish in their lavvu and goahti huts. This age-old method used to be the only way to preserve meat as salt was not available. Smoke drying at low temperatures, taking days to complete, also made meat lighter and thus easier to carry home from the wilderness. In addition, open fire provided heat and kept wild animals away.

Real fire and meat belong together.

That has been true for hundreds of years already.

FIREPLACE DESIGN INSPIRED BY THE GOAHTI, THE SAMI HUT (KOTA)

The design has been created on the Arctic Circle in Finnish Lapland, among the fells, under the midnight sun and on snowy slopes in the winter darkness.

Nothing beats the rich, smoky flavour of meat cooked over fire!

That is the key: the most genuine essence of wood-fire grilling and smoking.

PRODUCTION

In Finland, from Finnish steel.

Made for nature, Firehut can be left outdoors without cover around the year. The body is made entirely of weather-resistant COR-TEN steel. The copper, nickel and chromium in the steel create natural patina and protection. This material makes it possible to use unpainted steel, minimising its environmental impact. The outcome: a surface with a clearly visible pattern, each product a unique piece of art. Naturally.

MATERIALS

The everlasting union of the stainless and the rough

Firehut’s design combines unfinished, rough and rust-coloured COR-TEN® steel and semi-shiny, brushed stainless steel, creating intriguing contrast with the structure. Opposites complement each other!
